APRIL 24, 2018
PROGRAM TOPIC: STORYTELLING: Not Just for the Parties, for Mediators Too! Mediation begins with having parties in a dispute tell their stories to each other. However, storytelling also can be an important skill in the mediator's toolbox for dealing with many aspects of a mediation. Stories can help to "set the stage" for a successful mediation. So too stories can be a powerful tool for moving beyond impasse. Join Mark Goldman (aka Storyteller Mark) at our April 24th luncheon as he shows us how to find, craft and tell stories to aid the mediation process.
PRESENTER: Mark Goldman has been a professional storyteller for the past eight years. Mark has been an Adjunct Professor at Glendale Community College since 2015 where he teaches The Art of Storytelling. He is the author of Storytelling Tips: Creating Crafting and Telling Stories – 101 Tips (published 2015). He is the producer of The Great Arizona Story Slam and he has conducted storytelling workshops in Phoenix and around the U.S. Mark previously worked as a mediator and trainer for the Maricopa County Superior Court Dispute Resolution Office and he has taught Family Mediation with Shannon Ariola at Phoenix College.
